The lungs are a pair of organs in the chest that are primarily responsible for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the air we breathe and the blood.
The lung is composed of clusters of small air sacs (alveoli) divided by thin, elastic walls or membranes. Capillaries, the tiniest of blood vessels, run within these walls between the alveoli and allow blood and air to come near each other. The distance between the air in the lungs and the blood in the capillaries is very small, and allows molecules of oxygen and carbon dioxide to transfer across the membranes.
Position of the spinal cord in the vertebral canal
The spinal cord proper does not extend the entire length of the vertebral canal. It ends between the first and second lumbar vertebra (two vertebra below the last set of ribs - just below the middle of the back), and a bundle of nerves that extend from it, called the cauda equina (“horse’s tail”), extends the rest of the way down the back, and into the sacrum.
In adults, the spinal cord is usually between 17-18 inches long (43-45 cm).

I didn’t even respond to that question in a rude manner! I was told “I need” to do something, I was approached in a rather rude manner and I replied. Nicely.

What is COPD?
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is comprised primarily of three related conditions, 1) chronic bronchitis, 2) chronic asthma, and 3) emphysema. In each condition there is chronic obstruction of the air flow through the airways and out of the lungs, and the obstruction generally is permanent and may progress over time.
While asthma features obstruction to the flow of air out of the lungs, usually, the obstruction is reversible. Between “attacks” of asthma the flow of air through the airways typically is normal. These patients do not have COPD. However, if asthma is left untreated, the chronic inflammation associated with this disease can cause the airway obstruction to become fixed. That is, between attacks, the asthmatic patient may then have abnormal air flow. This process is referred to as lung remodeling. These asthma patients with a fixed component of airway obstruction are also considered to have COPD.
Donated livers can survive for at least a day outside the body thanks to a new device which keeps the organ ticking over as if it hadn’t been removed. The machine is likely to more than double the availability of livers for transplant. The device was unveiled today in London by its developer Peter Friend, professor of transplantation surgery at the University of Oxford.
